II. Photochromic lens:
- What is photochromic lens?
Photochromic lenses are optical lenses that darken on exposure to specific types of light of sufficient
intensity, most commonly ultraviolet (UV) radiation. In the absence of activating light the lenses return to
their clear state. They are principally used in eyeglasses that are dark in bright sunlight, but clear in low ambient light
conditions. They darken significantly within about a minute of
exposure to bright light, and take somewhat longer to clear. | | - How do photochromic lens work?
In the technology, molecules of silver chloride or another silver halide are embedded in photochromatic lenses.
They are transparent to visible light without significant
ultraviolet component, which is normal for artificial lighting.
These processes are reversible; once the lens is removed from
strong sources of UV rays the photochromic compounds return to
their transparent state |

serious eye problems and in some cases blindness.

of regular glasses to sunglasses. You only need to remember to take
one dual purpose pair of glasses with you as no doubt at some point
we have all forgotten to take our sunglasses out with us only to be
caught out by the glare of the sun or even left them behind never
to be seen again.
Eye Health – Reducing your exposure to the suns harmful UV rays can lower the
risk of cataracts or other eye/age related problems
